Desertification in Chad
The Chad Desert, located in the northern part of Chad and extending into neighboring countries like Libya, Niger, and Sudan, is one of the most extreme environments in the world. It is part of the larger Saharan region, characterized by its harsh climate, sparse rainfall, and high temperatures. Over the past several decades, the desert has experienced significant environmental changes, mainly driven by climate change, desertification, and human activities. These shifts have led to a wide array of challenges, both for the natural environment and the human populations that depend on the land for their livelihoods. This project aims to explore and analyze these changes, understand their impacts on the local ecosystems, and propose sustainable solutions to mitigate the effects of desertification.
